ETF (Exchange-Traded Fund)

ETFs are not funds in the traditional sense; rather, they are hybrid instruments combining aspects of investment trusts and unit trusts and offering many the benefits of both. ETFs are products that trade like stocks on the London Stock Exchange. They mimic stock indexes and are passively managed just like an index fund. Because ETFs change price throughout the day just like a stock, rather than once a day like unit trusts or OEICs, investors have the ability to choose the timing and know the price of the transaction. Also, investors do not have to pay stamp duty and there are no initial charges when you invest.
